HTC Vive sells 15000 in 10 minutes!

The HTC Vive only just went live for pre orders and the company is already claiming incredible sales figures for the vr headset
We recently reported that the HTC Vive VR system would cost €899 (without shipping) in Ireland, and that's before stocking up on a high end PC to run it. The price seems to have not put too many people off though, with reports of pre order numbers through the roof.
HTC reported that an insane 15,000 units of the Vive were pre-ordered from their site in the first 10 minutes.
Woah, more than 15k units in less than 10min :o
It seems there's a real appetite out there for these first steps into Virtual Reality, and tech fans are willing to pay a premium to be the first through the door. Even using the base US price of $799 that's 12 million quid earned in 10 minutes, and no doubt plenty more orders have been made since then. Now HTC and partners Valve have been sinking money into the product for years, and it's thought the units themselves are being sold at a loss, so no one is really winning in this first round in the VR wars.
The HTC Vive includes the following:
1 Headset 2 base stations enabling 360 degree room-scale motion tracking 2 wireless controllers Tilt Brush, Fantastic Contraption and Job Simulator experiences*
The Vive will be shipping out to customers on the 5th of April 2016.
