Hideo Kojima partners with PlayStation on independent game
Hideo Kojima has officially parted ways with Konami and founded his own independent studio. His first title will be a console exclusive to PlayStation 4.
Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has left publisher Konami and set up his own studio, Kojima Productions. Shortly after this news broke, he announced that his first title will be console exclusive to PlayStation 4.
Kojima's first title as an independent developer will be the beginning of a new franchise and developed in collaboration with PlayStation. He says it will "give you all a new and innovative gaming experience."
A delighted Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, made the announcement alongside Kojima and offered him "full support on your new journey" on behalf of PlayStation and the fans.
What Kojima has planned remains a mystery; there's always the chance that he himself doesn't know just yet. But fans of Kojima will be excited to see what he can come up with. After all, Metal Gear Solid V was a fitting swansong, while the cancelled Silent Hills was shaping up nicely if P.T. was anything to go by.
We'll keep you up to date as anything emerges from Kojima's new camp.
