Ever wondered what might happen if you sharpen the Apple Pencil? Well, this video from YouTuber TechRax, destroyer of gadgets, has the answer.

It may be called the Apple Pencil, but it’s no ordinary pencil and shouldn’t be treated as one.

YouTuber TechRax decided to test out what happens when you try to sharpen the Apple Pencil using an industrial sharpener. You have his viewers to thank for this experiment.

Sure enough, the sharpener eats away at the Pencil’s casing, but aside from some metal getting exposed it comes through in pretty good nick. TechRax then turns his attention to the end of the Pencil; its outer casing gets removed, but otherwise the Pencil survives. And that’s more than can be said for the sharpener.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t then test if the Pencil still works as intended. Perhaps there will be a follow-up test to showcase that.

What we’ve learned is that it looks like you can get away with sharpening your Apple Pencil, but we wouldn’t recommend it.
