In a move which really should have happened a long time ago, Steam bundles will now be discounted if you own some of the titles
This is great news for fans of Steam, and those delicious bundles offered by franchises and studios.
Now if you're looking to purchase a bundle on Steam, the system will discount the total price if you already own some of the titles in the pack. For those who have been on the service for a good long while, the combination of Steam sales and Humble Bundles means you've likely picked up a lot of random games which are going to be part of some of the major bundles which go on release. Or you might be a fan of one franchise but not quite managed to pick up every spin off game. So this is a great move for gamers.
Valve hasn't officially announced the news yet, but the information was obtained by PCGamesn through documentation which was sent out to developers. It's all about providing a better level of service to loyal gamers, ensuring they don't end up with a lot of extra Steam keys or - worse - just letting the codes disintegrate into digital dust. If you're logged in you'll be able to see some bundles which are using this new metric right now, but it hasn't yet spread to the whole service. That likely means its still in testing, and Valve will release an official statement soon.
In the meantime, maybe don't buy any bundles
