Google Maps now comes with new functionality, allowing users to call a taxi using the Hailo app from inside a map search
Hailo is a great and easy way to get a taxi no matter where you are and Google Maps is the best way to find out where you're going - so it's pretty fitting that they now work together!
Hailo has just become a Google Global Ride Service Partner, which means that it comes up under the list of possible ways to get to a destination. When you're searching for somewhere, you can see travel times for walking, public transports etc and right in there a new tab includes ones for taxis. It will not only tell you the rough travel time but also lets you tap to order a Hailo to your destination.
This new option is being rolled out in the UK and Spain today on Android, with more cities and countries to follow. The update arrives on the iOS app next week and provides an accessible way to call for a lift from a trusted service. With the addition of your destination, the app will also be able to give you an estimated price before you even call for the car.
Andrew Pinnington, CEO of Hailo said, “Google Maps helps millions of people navigate their way around the world’s cities. Now with the addition of Hailo to the ride services tab, in both the UK and Spain, there are even more ways to book one of the iconic black cabs of London to get customers reliably, safely and quickly to their destination. Becoming a Google Global Ride Service Partner recognises the key role licensed taxis perform as part of a city’s transport infrastructure.”
