Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge may feature an unexpected feature; they may boast an always-on display.

The news comes courtesy of Twitter leaker Eldar Murtazin who wrote, "What is the difference between S7 from the S6...? The first screen is on and shows the information almost always (always on ;)".

This ties in with a previously spotted trademark application that mentioned a feature called "Always on Display." It's not yet known how Samsung will implement this, but we should find out more at Mobile World Congress.

LG also looks set to utilise an always-on display with the LG G5, which will also make an appearance at MWC. This will show the time, date, and a few notifications.

Samsung is set to announce the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge on February 21st.
