Dara Ó Briain is a very funny man, this is known, but were you also aware that he's a big gamer? The Wicklow native often brings up his hobby in his shows and has hosted the British Academy Video Game Awards four times to date. Now he's upping the ante with his own TV show.

Go 8 Bit will be hosted by the main man himself and will feature two celeb guests every week who must survive a gauntlet of gaming trails to emerge victorious. They'll be guided in this by their team captains Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon, who game up with the idea originally and staged it in Edinburgh where it looked a bit like this.

We're guessing the new version will be a bit less chaotic and might have a slightly higher budget, though it is on Dave so expectations aren't that high. Challenges will include classic titles and brand new games, as well trials related to emerging technology. We're expecting to see a lot of virtual reality basically.

The show will be shooting soon and airing in Autumn 2016.
