Doom multiplayer beta starts very soon - glorious trailer arrives
Doom is coming back, with a major new game in the long running series set for a May 2016 release - and you can get a taste of the action soon
The daddy of shooters is back, as Doom makes its bow in May 2016. Before that, it's time for some major multiplayer action with a closed beta running from the 31st of March to the 3rd of April.
In celebration, here is another utterly glorious trailer showing off the arcade-tastic competitive play.
Oooh it has a great Unreal Tournament feel in the speed and the vocal announcer, and it's own unique madness thanks to the ultraviolence and those demonic extras. The particularly over the top melee kills are also delicious, especially as they should account for a special kind of humiliation when you catch another player in the animation.
The closed beta will show off Team Deathmatch and Warpath (a new mode) on two maps - Heatwave and Infernal. The only way to get into the beta is via a code in the box for Wolfenstein The New Order, which came out almost two years ago so you might want to try to remember if you have one of those. Hopefully an open beta will take place at some point to give us a taste of this sweet ultraviolence.
Doom launches on the 13th of May 2016.
