Dark Souls is a game series best known for being really, really hard so game director Hidetaka Miyazaki doesn't believe this perfect run

Dark Souls is a notoriously difficult game series which is why its so much fun to watch speedrunners and gaming pros tackle the challenges with supreme skill. One recent gamer posted a video showing them completing the entire game in just four and a half hours - more than that they did it without suffering a single death or taking one hit from an enemy.

Here's how that world record playthrough went.

That's an amazing feat, so much so that the games director Hidetaka Miyazaki just doesn't believe it's true! Speaking to Wired ahead of the release of Dark Souls III, Miyazaki said: "I don't believe the player who says he completed the original Dark Souls without taking a hit -- it would be amazing but I think it's just an elaborate rumour!"

It must be strange to see something you created taking on a life of its own in this way, with gamers stepping up to the plate for incredible challenges. The idea that this run must be a hoax seems unfair to the player, as surely any game system can be beaten, and we'll have to see if he responds to this claim.

Dark Souls III is out on the 12th of April 2016.
