Could Rare Replay Make its Way to Wii U?
Speculation is mounting that Xbox One exclusive Rare Replay might find an unexpected home on Wii U, following another Microsoft franchise, Minecraft
As value propositions go these days you'll struggle to find anything that comes even remotely close to that offered by Rare's phenomenal Rare Replay - a collection of 30 games that chronicles some of the finest moments of the company's output over three decades. Sure, some have aged pretty terribly, but those that haven't remain as unbelievably addictive as ever, and are dribbling with nostalgia for ageing gamers.
Given the strength of the offering, you can probably understand our surprise to see that there is mounting speculation that the compendium of classics might be making its way to Nintendo's Wii U - which would be rather fitting given the significance of Rare in Nintendo's recent history. It would appear that the rumour has started due to the fact that a new addition to the Microsoft stable, Minecraft, has just been announced for Wii U, prompting a Twitter users to enquire about the possibility of Rare Replay following suit.
Although Microsoft's representative didn't let anything out of the bag, the answer was far from as definitive as you might have expected, with @MSStudiosBlog telling user @GARU_SSB to make the suggestion to Rare.
In a slightly more official statement, Microsoft had the following to say:
"We have no information of any games coming to the Wii U other than Minecraft at this time."
So, make of that what you will. Will we ever see Rare Replay on Wii U? It's probably unlikely, but at least Microsoft hasn't completely shut the idea down. Yet.
