Those using Leap cards to travel will soon be able to top-up their cards from their NFC-enabled smartphone rather than through conventional methods.
From early 2016, commuters who use the Leap card will be able to top it up from the comfort of their own smartphone.
The Leap Top-Up app will be available on smartphones with NFC capability. Once downloaded, turn on NFC, and then tap your card against your smartphone, choose a top-up amount, and hit the top-up button.
Some passengers have been trialling the software in recent weeks. The National Transport Authority hopes that it will be released publicly from January.
Leap Top-Up will be available via the Google Play Store. iPhone users will have to wait until Apple Pay is made available in Ireland.
