While we’ve no idea how the Assassin’s Creed movie is shaping up, New Regency is already planning for a sequel.

Michael Fassbender will return for this planned sequel, according to The Tracking Board, as well as much of the production team. It’s not yet known if director Justin Kurzel will be involved.

New Regency has reportedly invested $125 million into the Assassin’s Creed film, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that it hopes to create a franchise and get some return for its investment.

In Assassin’s Creed, Fassbender stars as an Assassin created specifically for the film, Aguilar, and his modern day counterpart, Callum Lynch. The film is set in 15th century Spain with Lynch discovering his connection to the Assassin of that time thanks to his genetic memories.

Assassin’s Creed is due to hit cinemas on December 30th.
