TONIGHT'S #Sockies social media awards are not about the suit or the guna!
At this year’s Social Media Awards, which acknowledges small business' social media activity, it’s all about the socks.
So the awards tonight will result in the unveiling of a specially created ‘Sock Walk’ - a mini-red carpet which will allow guests to show off and tweet their stylish ankle wear.
The feature, which is set to rival the E! News ‘mani-cam’, includes a miniature red carpet – an exact replica of the official red carpet that guests will walk to access the Awards. Guests will be encouraged to put their best foot forward as the Sock Walk will be capturing the best and worst socks of the night before uploading them to the @BordGaisEnergy Twitter account which will Tweet a photo of their ‘Sock-walk moment’ to each willing participant.
Sock aficionado and host of the awards, Rick O’Shea of RTE 2FM said: “As people will know if they've ever seen me dress for any of the awards ceremonies I present, I put little to no effort of any kind in to my appearance on the night. That's because everything goes into my socks. Finally I'm going to be part of a swanky awards night where my socks get to take centre place. I'm first on the sock walk and I'll fight anyone who tries to get there ahead of me. No matter how much their company is worth.”
Independent.ie is the media partner of the awards that are owned by Mulley Communications.
