Samsung has unveiled its latest high end smartphone, the Galaxy Note 4.

The 5.7-inch handset is the latest version of the company's 'phablet' category of phones and features a high definition '2k' display, clearer than any rival phone.

The phone has added image stabilisation to its 16 megapixel main camera and has increased its front-facing 'selfie' camera quality to 3.7 megapixels.

The phone also includes a biometric sensor that can measure fingerprints and pulses.

The Galaxy Note 4 also features a fast-charging battery that claims to be chargeable to 50pc strength within 30 minutes.

The device also has a tweaked style pen mechanism which can now drag and drop items in addition to its writing functionality.

Samsung has not yet revealed pricing or availability of the Galaxy Note 4, but it is expected to be available in Irish shops next month.

Samsung also announced the Galaxy Note Edge, which features a curved screen, and a new smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear S.

It also launched a virtual reality headset, the Gear VR.
