Facebook users turn to Twitter during half hour outage
Thousands of Facebook users were unable to log into their profiles this morning as the site experienced a system outage.
When attempting to log in this morning at approximately 9am, Facebookers received an error message and were unable to post, like or message their 'friends'.
Thanks to Twitter, however, online addicts were able to voice their concerns through their Twitter platforms instead.
Controversial commentator Katie Hopkins tweeted: "Facebook is down? Can this be true! What will 'Full time mummies' do with their day?"
But some were rather more optimistic. "Only at the precipice do we evolve. Facebook is down. This is our moment," posted Rishi Kulkarni.
The social networking giant posted a message on its homepage, assuring users that 'we're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can."
The site resumed normal service shortly before 9.30am.
