Apple is considering funding at least six Irish renewable energy projects to support its planned €850m data centre in Galway.
The tech giant is looking for partners for several green energy projects that will be up to 50 MW in size each. The data centre in Galway will require an estimated 300 MW of power.
The total new investment from the renewable projects could be more than €400m, according to a report in the Irish Times.
Apple said that it is most interested in agreements with developers to buy electricity, although it added that it would “consider purchasing in their entirety such assets” as they come onstream.
