New Yorker claims he used iPhone app 'to catch wife cheating'
A NEW York man has claimed he found out that his wife was having an affair after using an app he installed on her phone to spy on her.
Thomas Metz said he was able to track his wife's movements using the Find My Friends app on her iPhone, according to a website.
Mr Metz said he had grown suspicious of his wife's fidelity and tested her by texting her to ask what she was doing.
She replied, saying she was with a friend on 10th Street, Manhattan.
Mr Metz said that he knew this was not true by using the app to ascertain that she was actually three miles away from where she said she was.
"I got my wife a new 4s and loaded up Find My Friends without her knowing. She told me she was at her friend's house in the east village. I've had suspicions about her meeting this guy who lives uptown. Lo and behold, Find My Friends has her right there," Mr Metz was quoted as saying by the MacRumor website.
"I just texted her asking where she was and the dumb b---- said she was on 10th Street.
"Thank you Apple, thank you App Store, thank you all. These beautiful treasure trove of screen shots going to play well when I meet her at the lawyer's office in a few weeks."
The story has provoked a mixed reaction, with some people doubting whether it actually happened. Other comments were critical of Mr Metz's tactics: "Are you stupid? ... I bet there aren't many men here who have never lied to their wives about where they were," one online commenter wrote.
