Microsoft algorithm: Guess who wins Euro 2016?

Microsoft has already revealed the results of the tournament.

Microsoft's search engine Bing has predicted the outcome of the entire tournament using a combination of social media analysis, online search and performance evaluation.

Euro 96 champions Germany are predicted to repeat the feat 20 years on and lift the trophy at in the Stade de France final.

In previous years Bing has successfully predicted the outcome for events including the Scottish Referendum, FIFA World Cup, Oscars, and Cricket World Cup and are looking to score again for this year’s Euros.

Research scientists at Yahoo and Tumblr have also predicted Germany will make it back to back major tournament wins in France.

A combination of Yahoo Sport data and analysis of over 24 million Tumblr blogs have been used to come up with a prediction for the how the tournament will play out.

Like their compatriots at Microsoft, the Yahoo model foresees a semi-finals defeat for England at the hands of Spain.

In a repeat of the Euro 2008 final, Spain go on to meet Germany where Joachim Low's side exact revenge for their 2008 defeat and add the European Championship to their 2014 World Cup win.
