SOME Meteor customers have been hit by an outage in the Leinster region that has prevented users from making phone calls, sending texts and using the internet.
The outage was caused by a fibre break that occurred last night in Waterford. According to Meteor some 4,000 fixed line customers are being affected while mobile customers are also experiencing difficulties.
The network released the following statement this morning:
"Yesterday evening there was a major fibre break in our network near Passage East in Waterford. As a result 4,000 fixed line customers are experiencing disruption to their phone and broadband services.
"The fault has also impacted mobile services in the region, causing service degradation. Mobile users may experience difficulties with top ups, MMS services and data throughput. Areas impacted include Duncannon, Ballycullane, Campile, Duncormack, Fethard, Foulksmills and Wellington Bridge.
"Our teams have been working through the night to repair the fibre break. Repair efforts require a substantial level of work across multiple teams. We are doing everything possible to restore service to all impacted customers. We will provide further updates later today."
