The Irish Independent has moved to consolidate its position as Ireland's biggest online news service.
On the back of major year-on-year gains, the new website provides users with more pictures and graphics as well as a sleeker design.
It's thought to be the biggest website investment here in the last 12 months.
"Our enhanced site represents another step in the digital evolution at INM," Independent.ie and Irish Independent editor Stephen Rae said.
"It allows for greater sharing, more interaction with users and far more image-driven content and video, which will consolidate Independent's position as Ireland's number-one online news provider."
The site has been revamped as part of Independent News & Media's strategy to improve the digital offering of all the company's titles.
As part of this, digital editors and reporters have been moved into the newsroom of the Irish Independent and are fully involved in all daily editorial meetings. The group has moved journalists across titles and into a dynamic digital unit.
The strategy already seems to be paying dividends. ComScore said Independent.ie was the leading news site for the last six months of 2012.
The number of unique users has risen more than 70pc since the last ABC figures in March 2012.
The number of page impressions has also surged by almost 40pc.
Meanwhile, unaudited figures show that so far in 2013, the website has shown exceptional growth.
"We've more exciting plans in the pipeline, driven by a smart, energetic and young newsroom," Mr Rae added.
The design, which went live yesterday afternoon, will deliver an improved news section with up-to-date video and images along with live blogs and coverage of high-profile sporting events.
"We are proud of the new design, which reflects our core brand attributes, in a fresh, modern and user-friendly way," said Independent Digital boss Ian Byrne.
