Game On: Sony shows off new PlayStation 4 titles
Sony has showcased some of the games that can be played on its hotly anticipated PlayStation 4.
Retailers, gamers and industry journalists were able to try their hand on the device and play and interact with floating robots on the PlayRoom, an augmented-reality game.
Players can use smartphones and tablets to draw objects which they can then flick towards the robots to play with.
PlayStation managing director for UK & Ireland, Fergal Gara, said: "It is like nothing we've ever had before on any PlayStation or indeed any other console.
"It shows we're not just about the core gamers who like driving games and high- energy games - we've got a broad church and there's something for everyone including family audiences."
He said the new console offers a "blank canvas" for games developers.
Speaking at the event in central London, he said it was ideal for both big companies and independent video game developers that are not owned by a publisher.
He said of the indie developers: "Some of the most creative ideas in our industry can very easily come from them. We've created a platform they can easily develop for and easily publish for."
He added that Sony was "absolutely delighted" that the PlayStation 4 will launch before Christmas.
Sony first gave a sneak preview of the £349 PlayStation 4 earlier in the year.
It is the first major game machine the Japanese firm has built since the PlayStation 3 went on sale in 2006.
