•The biggest game in the world kicked off the trial phase of its new online subscription service last week.

Call of Duty Elite, which is a companion to Modern Warfare 3, will give paying customers access to a host of Call of Duty extras in the hugely popular multiplayer mode.

MW3 doesn't launch until November 3 but is already guaranteed to be the biggest-selling title of the year. Sign up for the beta to get a taste of Elite and see whether it'll be worth paying for.

New games approach

•Top publisher Ubisoft has become the latest games company to restrict second-hand sales by making online play free only for the customer who buys new.

Ubisoft follows titans such as EA, THQ and Sony in introducing a voucher system for its leading games.
