BlackBerry's Android handset, which was codenamed Venice, is now called the Priv, hinting at the device's added security and privacy features.
BlackBerry is set to announce an Android handset, which was codenamed Venice. A new leak indicates that its final name will be the BlackBerry Priv.
This hints at the phone’s security and privacy features. The BlackBerry Priv will implement grsecurity for some added peace of mind, as well as BlackBerry Safeguard, which should keep all data and information safe and secure.
The BlackBerry Priv looks set to be BlackBerry’s highest specced device. It will supposedly feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage, which will be expandable. Its rumoured display ranges from 5.4- to 5.6-inches.
The other novel feature that the BlackBerry Priv has going for it is that it’s a slider phone. The BlackBerry Priv offers a slide-out physical keyboard, as well as touchscreen controls.
It looks like the BlackBerry Priv runs Android Lollipop 5.1.1, but perhaps Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be supported down the line.
