Bits and Bytes: Long and winding road for Beatles online

Record companies love to whinge about piracy but when the music the public want isn't available legitimately online, you can see why somebody might be tempted.

Alas, Yoko Ono gave no hope that the music of The Beatles would hit iTunes any time soon. She revealed last week that there were still some "sticking points" between the band, record company EMI and Apple that prevent The Beatles from fully entering the digital age.



  • Hardly anyone used it and few people could even explain what it was for. No wonder Google Wave was retired last week after less than a year.


A collaboration and messaging tool, Wave failed to gather momentum beyond the geeks. The service will be shut down at the end of the year.
