Fianna Fail TD Michael McGrath has claimed that he was targeted by hackers after an image of a semi naked woman appeared on his Facebook page.

Deputy McGrath expressed his disgust after being contacted by friends who told him that his Facebook profile appeared to ‘like’ a page which contains content of a sexual nature.

The page shows a picture of the 'MILF of the Day' which was 'liked' under the Fianna Fail representative's profile.

The Cork South Central TD told Independent.ie that he has now “closed down” the account as a result of the incident.

He said he would never “in my right mind” access content of such a sexual nature.

“I was shocked and disgusted when friends rang me on Saturday to tell me about it,” he said.

“With 3,500 facebook friends looking over my shoulder, do you think in my right mind I would be so stupid to like such a page,” he added.

Mr McGrath said he immediately disabled the page and will not be reopening it for the time being.

“I feel like I was burnt, I suppose it was probably hackers but I’m leaving the page down for a while.”
