And Little Vista has also raised €700,000 in funding.

Its child-monitoring app is already being used by 11,000 parents with children in 150 creches and childcare facilities in Ireland, and now it is trialling in a number of locations in Berlin and in the UK.

The tablet-based technology is mostly used by parents on their work PC and smartphones, said co-founder Maria Demery.

It gives parents real-time updates on naps and meals, as well as bathroom breaks and activites from the approved pre-school curriculum such as Siolta and Aistear.

"The securely encrypted app gives parents peace of mind with an immediate and detailed account of a child's day," she explained.

"Creches pay us a monthly subscription rate for our hardware and software - that's how the payment system works.

As a result of the fund-raising, 50/50 from Enterprise Ireland and private equity, the company has also expanded its workforce to 15 - including a customer support centre in Dun Laoghaire.

Co-founders Kieran Walkin, Julian Hickson, Mark Casey and Ms Demery have retained an over 60pc shareholding in the firm following the funding. They plan another round in the future, but no time frame has been decided yet.
