Superstar Enya's music firm sitting on €1m profits

Accumulated profits at Enya's music business firm nearly topped €1m last year, new figures show.

According to accounts recently lodged with the Companies Office, accumulated profits at Enya's Aigle Music Company Ltd dropped marginally from €1m to €985,668 in the 12 months to the end of June 30 last.

The figures show that the cash pile during the year increased marginally from €619,809 to €620,229.

The low profile 54-year- old Co Donegal singer is Ireland's biggest-selling solo artist of all time.

She has sold 80 million albums worldwide - more than 26 million in the US alone - during a long career.

After a hiatus of six years, she released her latest album, Dark Sky Island, to positive reviews last year.

Previously, Enya's 'The Very Best of Enya', released in November 2009, spent 56 non-consecutive weeks at No 1 on the Billboard New Age Album Charts.

Enya, or Eithne Ní Bhraonáin, was the world's biggest- selling artist in 2001 and 2002.

The native of Gweedore owns a third share in the Dublin-registered Aigle Music Company Ltd along with her manager, Nicky Ryan, and lyricist Roma Ryan.

The three have collaborated since 1982 and their work has included Enya's first major hit album, 'Watermark' that included the hit single 'Orinoco Flow' that propelled her to international fame.

The three have also collaborated for Enya's new album.

Prior to going solo, Enya sang with her family group, Clannad.

Enya is a four-time Grammy award winner.
