Smurfit Kappa overhauls management at its European operations

Irish paper and packaging giant Smurfit Kappa has overhauled the management at its European operations led by current executive Roberto Villaquiran.

Mr Villaquiran, who is currently chief executive of the group’s Corrugated Europe division, will take up the new role of CEO of the company’s Europe division.

He will take up the new position tomorrow and will have overall responsibility for the existing European paper and corrugated divisions. He will report directly to the group CEO, Tony Smurfit.

Reporting to the European CEO will be two new Chief Operations Officers in Paper Europe and Corrugated Europe. Laurent Sellier has been appointed to the new role of COO of the company’s paper European division, while Saverio Mayer has been appointed to the new role of COO of the firm’s corrugated europe division.

Group CEO Tony Smurfit said: “We expect our new European structure to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and development of our business. We believe the strength of our team and our unique culture will continue to define our business and to drive superior performance.”
