THE founder of retail giant Superquinn has been hailed as an inspiration by the revered former public servant, Dr TK Whitaker.
Dr Whitaker attended the launch of Feargal Quinn's new book, 'Mind your Own Business', in central Dublin last night.
Mr Quinn, who is also a member of the Seanad, said he believed every business had the potential to survive and even thrive during a recession.
Dr Whitaker – who is credited with playing a pivotal role in Ireland's economic development – said Mr Quinn's life story was an inspiring one.
"He made it from small beginnings by sheer acquisition of knowledge and good judgment," he told the Irish Independent.
The book is aimed at owners and managers of small, medium and large businesses. "One of the first chapters talks about, that in a recession, in a tough time, there are people who will succeed, just as there are people who fail in good times," Mr Quinn said.
Mr Quinn founded Superquinn in 1960 and was its managing director for several years.
Among the guests was Aer Lingus chief executive Christoph Mueller and Michael O'Brien of O'Brien Press.
