Taste of Success: Lidl gives food producers chance to win up to €100,000
Supermarket looking for unique ideas to stock product in its stores
BUDDING connoisseurs are being given the opportunity to make their dreams a reality, with a new competition being launched by retailing giants Lidl.
The German supermarket chain- which operates 140 stores in Ireland- has teamed up with RTE to produce a new show, inviting blossoming food producers to pitch their innovative product idea to win the opportunity to have it stocked in shops around the country.
The new eight part series, The Taste of Success, is inviting food producers and members of the public to pitch their unique food product idea, which comes with a prize valued at being at least €100,000.
The prize includes €50,000 cash, a 3pc royalty on the product for its minimum stocking period in Lidl of six months which could also amount to €25,000.
There is also an additional €25,000 for development and marketing support.
Colm Crowley from RTE Cork, highlighted the importance of Irish food production and exports, adding that they are "a hugely important part of the Irish economy".
"This competition offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to someone who could ultimately make their career in food production and potentially create new jobs," he added.
