AN Irish firm has just signed a deal worth €1m with a company in the United Arab Emirates, despite having been previously rejected by Gavin Duffy and Ramona Nicholas on RTE's 'Dragons' Den'.

Medcoll, a biotechnology company that makes anti-ageing supplements, has signed a distribution deal with Il Ittihad Drugs (IDS) which will see the two companies working together for the next three years.

The Mullingar-based operation has three staff but hopes to expand in the next year.

"With this new contract in the United Arab Emirates, hopefully we will be able to recruit more people in our Irish base," a spokesperson said.

CEO Roz Martin admitted to having been "a little disappointed" when she was turned away by the dragons but said "their decision will not hold us back".

She is working with Enterprise Ireland to expand the company and grow global exports.
