Irish family businesses aren't performing at the level of rival non-family owned enterprises, according to a new survey.
A BDO survey of 350 Irish businesses found that while 46pc of family companies expected business activity to increase in the third quarter, more than half of non-family companies expected to see a rise in the same period.
Similarly just 19pc of family businesses forecast hiring extra workers in the third quarter, compared to 27pc of non-family businesses who expect staffing levels to increase.
Almost four in ten family businesses anticipated a rise in operating profit during the third quarter, compared to 52pc of non-family businesses.
