DCC pledges €700,000 in funding as it renews entrepreneur pact
One of Ireland's largest public companies, DCC plc, pledged its commitment to Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI) for an additional four years to 2019 and will continue its financial support with further funding of €700,000 over this time, it said yesterday.
The CEO of DCC, Tommy Breen, pictured right, said "the company is proud to be a long-term partner of SEI and we believe social entrepreneurship is an important area which deserves wider recognition and support.
"Our renewed commitment is testament to the great work that SEI has done to date in developing social entrepreneurship in Ireland and our confidence that the organisation will continue to extend its reach and impact."
Darren Ryan, CEO of SEI, pictured left, said "DCC's generous financial support gives us the confidence to further develop and grow our impact in the years ahead. Since 2011, DCC has been an incredible partner for SEI, providing us with not only financial support but also employees' time and expertise. Their support has been key to us driving innovative solutions to some of Ireland's biggest social challenges." DCC will continue to be the flagship sponsor of the annual Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Award. SEI will be launching its search for candidates for the 2016 awards later this month. Former winners include Pieta House, Coder Dojo, FoodCloud and Men's Sheds.
