Ryanair close in SR Technics case

Ryanair yesterday made its closing statement in a case against the way maintenance firm SR Technics allocates its hangar spots at Dublin Airport. Ryanair had sought to rent hangar 1 from SR Technics; however, SR Technics claimed the sublet was refused by the hangar's owners, the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA). Ryanair subsequently took a case to the courts. The maintenance firm will make its closing statement next week.
O'Reilly ups his stake in INM

Sir Anthony O'Reilly continues to build up his stake in Independent News & Media (INM) and yesterday announced the purchase of an additional 0.12pc in the company, bringing his total holding to 26.25pc. The move brings the holding of Sir Anthony and associated parties in INM to more than 27.72pc.
Four compete for Sligo Champion

The race for the 'Sligo Champion' has narrowed to four this weekend, with a deal expected early next week. Independent News & Media is understood to be among the final four, along with other established media groups. A number of bids came in above the €20m mark.
UTV ready to pay €50m for FM104
MEDIA
UTV has emerged as the preferred bidder for Dublin's FM104. The media group is understood to be prepared to pay upwards of €50m for the radio station, which is being offloaded by Denis O'Brien's Communicorp. Once the deal is cleared, Mr O'Brien's purchase of Today FM and Highland Radio can go ahead.
Akzo Nobel to sell Crown business

Dutch chemicals and paints group Akzo Nobel has agreed to sell its Crown paints business in Ireland as part of its acquisition of Britain's ICI. The European Commission this morning approved the deal after receiving promises that some assets would be sold to ensure competition.
