Mobile phones, British postmen and government lotteries are some of the things that could be worth putting your money into over the next few months, according to Merrion Stockbrokers.

In its latest Global Investment Strategy, Merrion has tipped stocks such as Vodafone, Royal Mail and Gtech.

Merrion recommends Gtech, an international company which provides government-sponsored video lottery machines, because of its "excellent track record of generating revenue growth and enhancing profitability levels".

It also believes the future is bright for Royal Mail. "As with many companies previously run by the civil service in Britain that have subsequently been privatised, there are many ways to generate better business efficiencies that boost profit margins and materially increase the profitability of the company," said Merrion.

"Royal Mail is not an exception to this rule and we believe that there is a likelihood of materially higher profits at the company in the coming years."

Merrion also tips Vodafone, citing its "strong balance sheet" and it gives the thumbs up to eBay because of its "strong market position".

The insulation maker
Kingspan and the financial services group IFG are amongst the Irish shares tipped by Merrion. "Kingspan has been exposed to a challenging end market for the last number of years but there are now signs of improvement in several of the most challenged geographies that the group serves," states the stockbrokers.
