Gas and electricity

Sunday May 22 2011

While it sounds easy to shift your gas and electricity over to one supplier like Airtricity or Bord Gais, it isn't the cheapest option.

For a hefty customer with €250 every two months for both gas and electricity, you'd save about €321 per year by switching to Airtricity. But you'd save more by having gas with Flogas and electricity with the ESB. But you'll have to dump all the normal paper bills or paying by cheque to get the big savings.

Gas

Best: Flogas Option A €1,289.07 per year

Avoid: Bord Gais standard €1,500

Saving: €210.93

ELECTRICITY

Best: ESB Supersaver (online billing & direct debit) €1,306.77 a year

Avoid: ESB standard €1,500

Saving: €193.23

contact www.esbelectricireland.ie or 1850 30 50 90
