But crafting is not just about saving money. A beautiful home-made card is unique and has a special meaning for the person who receives it.
That said, it can pay dividends. Ciara O’Halloran, who has recently mastered the art of using a sewing machine, believes she will save money in the longrun.
“Developing a general skill like that means you can tweak your own clothes or make your own cushions and that kind of stuff. It means you can buy things that don’t fit quite right and just fix it or personalise stuff.”
