Rate of house price decline hikes to 14.9pc in year ended September – CSO

HOUSE prices fell by 14.9pc in the year ended September compared with an annual rate of decline of 13.9pc in August, new figures from the Central Statistics Office show.
The rate of decline in the same period last year was 11.1pc.
In the Dublin region, prices were 15.6pc lower than a year ago with apartment prices falling more than those of houses – at 19.3pc.
House prices in Dublin are now 49pc lower than their highest levels in 2007.
Outside Dublin, the price of a home fell by 1pc in September and 13.2pc compared with this time last year.
Overall the index is 44pc lower than 2007 peaks.
Residential property prices dropped by 1.5pc in the month of September.
This compares with a rate of decline of 1.6pc recorded in August and a fall of 1pc in September of last year.
