Fifty properties ranging in price from €199,000 to €310,000 were launched as part of the prestigious 'Wicklow Hills' development in Newtownmountkennedy.

Despite not even being built yet, staff at the Greystones branch of Sherry Fitzgerald were inundated with offers for the two-, three- and four-bedroom homes when the doors opened at 9am.

Spokeswoman Jill O'Neill said: "It's the second phase of the development so we had built up an enquiry list; 38 went this morning, and there's quite a bit of interest in the remaining 12.

"It's mostly young couples looking for a starter home."

Phase one of the €150m Tower Homes development - including 30 acres of parkland and a creche - previously sold out within weeks of going on the market last April.

Wicklow Hills' newest neighbours are expected to move in from August 2016.
