Propety giant Sherry FitzGerald is officially rebranding one of south Dublin's best known estate agencies, Daphne L Kaye and Associates, this weekend.

All billboards and marketing signs are all being changed - but it will be a case of "business as usual" from tomorrow morning.

Last week, Sherry FitzGerald announced its purchase of the Foxrock-based independent estate agents for an undisclosed sum.

Daphne Kaye is joining Sherry FitzGerald as a director of the residential business and will work with the Dublin residential team while maintaining close links with the Foxrock office.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent, Sherry FitzGerald managing director, Michael Grehan, said the transaction went "very smoothly" and he sees a long, prosperous future for the new venture.

"Daphne L Kaye is a business we've always admired and whom we competed with for many years. The move will strengthen our client offering. It will be of benefit to Daphne and of benefit to us, and it will help us widen our areas in Dundrum and Rathmichael," he said.

"It will bring significantly new opportunities to our homes business as land is developed in Dublin 8 over the coming years," he said, adding that their business in strong in the south county Dublin area.

The acquisition brings to 17 the number of Sherry FitzGerald branches in Dublin - including a new office in Blackrock that opened last year.

"We didn't waste the recession and we've been very focused on growing our network throughout the property downturn," he said, adding that they've been considering buying Daphne L Kaye - specialising in sales and acquisitions in south county Dublin and north Wicklow - for about two years.

Sherry Fitzgerald is currently considering the purchase of two other premises on both sides of the River Liffey.

Daphne Kaye founded the Foxrock office 30 years ago and has earned an enviable reputation in one of the most competitive property markets.
