FINANCE Minister Michael Noonan last night ruled out extending the mortgage interest relief scheme to more of the "negative equity generation" due to the cost involved.
He is currently bringing forward the bill to implement his Budget promise to increase mortgage interest relief from 15pc to 30pc for those who bought houses between 2004 and 2008.
It had sparked protests from those who narrowly missed out on a relief worth up to €2,000 per year to a couple.
