There has been a big jump in the number of people taking retirement planning courses this year – so much so that the Retirement Planning Council (RPC) of Ireland has increased the number of courses it had scheduled for this year. Courses are already being offered in Dublin and are scheduled to take place across the rest of the country from February, including in Cork, Limerick, Waterford, and Galway.
Over 3,000 individuals took part in a retirement planning course with the RPC last year – and the numbers taking the course in January 2014 is up on the same month last year.
"January is a very busy time as people are planning and organising themselves for the year ahead," said Elizabeth Carvill, head of marketing and development at the RPC. "However, the increase we have seen is greater than just that – more employers are realising the transition from working life into retirement can be very stressful for people."
