Travelling without cover
Tuesday June 09 2009
AROUND a quarter of people go abroad with no travel insurance, according to a recent survey conducted by Blue Insurance.
And a recent VHI survey found up to half of people go on holiday without insurance.
Travel insurance offered by your travel agent is probably best avoided, as it tends to be a lot more expensive than an online broker. But the price is not the only consideration as the level of cover is important, too.
Some cheap policies only cover trips within the EU, while others have large excesses.
It is wise to arrange travel insurance well in advance. Keep all receipts if you incur expenses and always report any loss or injury to the police.
