Travel insurance warning
Tuesday May 26 2009
PEOPLE travelling abroad have been warned about the danger of heading off without insurance.
A quarter of people are still travelling abroad uninsured, according to a survey by Blue Insurances. People are leaving themselves exposed to serious risk, warned Ciaran Mulligan of the company.
An example of the need for insurance was highlighted last week on the 'Gerry Ryan Show', where listeners heard the tragic tale of a family who travelled abroad uninsured and a member of the family needed life-saving heart surgery, which cost €25,000.
Mr Mulligan said this case should act as a wake-up call and reminder for people going abroad without insurance.
