Save on motor insurance

IF you automatically renew your insurance with your current provider, the chances are you are paying more than you have to, the National Consumer Agency (NCA) warns.

A little time spent shopping around could cut hundreds of euro off your yearly insurance bill. Also worth doing is bargaining with your current provider. Your provider may offer to lower your premium, rather than lose your business.

Explore all options. You can contact providers directly or you could go through a broker. But get as many quotes as possible.

The NCA also advises that you check the terms and conditions. It is a good idea to find out what is not covered as well as what is. And to check if any excess applies.
