How one smart cookie manages to get the best from his iPhone

Declan Finn (36), a teacher from Lucan, Co Dublin, bought his first Apple iPhone last March.

It's his first smartphone, which he bought from Vodafone, with whom he is a bill-pay customer.

He is already won over by his iPhone.

"The apps are amazing. I play movies and music on it.

"The phone interacts with my computer flawlessly and, unlike all the handsets I've had previously, it's not full of bells and whistles."

Unlike some new smartphone users, Mr Finn was very much aware of the need to have a different tariff to a normal mobile phone -- so that he wouldn't be charged over the odds for downloading data from the internet, such as email or iPhone applications.

He went for Vodafone's Perfect Choice Access Plus package, which includes 300 minutes of voice calls on any network along with 300 texts to any network, as well as free calls and texts to other Vodafone users.

"I was fairly certain that with this package I wouldn't go over my free minutes and texts and so I can expect the same bill every month," he said.

As a relatively new user, he's still not yet sure how much data he downloads every month.

"But I have a 2GB limit, which is massive, so I wouldn't normally reach my limit.

"My new tariff offers me better value for money for one main reason, which is that I now have an iPhone. This means I use my phone more now than I've ever done, because the phone is easier to use."

Declan says, overall, he is very pleased with his Apple iPhone and would not now be without it.
