The first ever auction in Ireland devoted to vintage cinema posters will take place in Dublin this Saturday. The auction, run by Whyte's, includes over 800 posters collected from the Forties to the Seventies – mainly from cinemas around Ireland.

A rare Wizard of Oz poster will go under the hammer for between €800 and €1,000. Other posters in the collection include Gone with the Wind, Easy Rider, Dracula and Doctor Zhivago.

In another Whyte's auction this Saturday, a life-size sculpture of Elvis Presley and an electric guitar signed by Slash of Guns 'N' Roses will come under the hammer.

Whyte's rock and pop memorabilia auction includes collectibles of interest to fans of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Rory Gallagher and U2. Those with a couple of grand to spare will get the chance to snap up a set of The Beatles' autographs. A letter signed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono could fetch up to €6,000.

There are also signed photos of Madonna and Michael Jackson.
