Cost of living in Dublin shoots up

The cost of living in Dublin has shot up over the last year, according to Mercer's latest cost of living survey.
Dublin has moved up ten places to become the 51st most expensive city in the world for expatriates to live in, according to the survey.
Rising rent costs are one of the main reasons that Dublin has a higher ranking this year, according to Noel O'Connor, senior consultant for Mercer.
The most expensive city in the world for expats is the Angolan capital of Luanda, followed by N'Djamena in Chad, and Hong Kong. Three Swiss cities make it into the top ten - Zurich, Geneva and Bern.
London is the twelfth most expensive city for expats after it moved up thirteen places in the rankings over the last year.
Some of the cheapest cities for expats to live include Karachi in Pakistan, Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa, and Bangalore in India.
The strengthening of local currencies against the US dollar over the last year has made many Western cities more expensive for expats.
