Aldi's smarter TV

  • Go To

As TV's get bigger, the amount of space we have left on the shelves beside the TV declines. Here's a TV from Aldi that has nearly all of the bells and whistles, meaning you can dispense with additional boxes and wires. This Smart TV is 40" wide, which is a decent size for any living room, and comes with three HDMI ports, a USB multimedia port, 1920 x 1080 resolution, and 10W speakers. In itself at the bargain price of €299.99, it would be a good buy, but this TV also comes with Saorview, making it excellent value. This TV will fly out of Aldi stores today, that's guaranteed. For full details of the specification visit www.aldi.ie and check in your local store for availability as it goes on sale today while stocks last.

Miniature superheroes

Batman v Superman was released in the cinemas last weekend. There are oceans of branded merchandise, but my eye was caught by these adorable children's Superman T-shirts from Penneys, which come with a detachable cape (the cape is attached by velcro so it's perfectly safe and washes easily too). Coming from Penneys means that the t-shirts are a value price of €7 each, and they are also available as Batman. I can see these being a huge hit over the months ahead, especially as they double-up as easy dressing-up costumes. See www.primark.ie for more superhero-themed attire, and visit stores nationwide.

New voucher system for Argos

It's worth noting that Argos have a new voucher system in place for all purchases from March 23 up to the April 5 (that's Tuesday next). Spend €50 or more and you'll get a voucher for €5 back, and spend €100 or more and you'll receive a €10 voucher in return. The vouchers are valid for another purchase between March 23 and April 26. For more information and T&Cs see in store or visit www.argos.ie.

Thermomix on a budget

If you like the idea of an appliance that gets on with multiple tasks while you can busy yourself with something else in the kitchen, but baulk at the price tag of a Thermomix, then you might be interested in the Lidl 'Monsieur Cuisine' which goes on sale today with the more affordable price of €199.99. Described as a multi-function cooking food processor, it appears to do everything the more expensive appliance does, but at a fraction of the price. Available in Lidl stores from today, while stocks last, for more information visit Lidl stores nationwide, or visit www.lidl.ie.

Annual attraction tickets make sense

The cheapest price per person I can find for Tayto Park at the moment is €14 (that's only if booked online, admissions at the gate are €15), a family visit for four people would cost you €56. Therefore if you intend on visiting Tayto Park more than three times in 2016, you'd be better off investing in an annual ticket, costing €155 for a family of four. This entitles you to unlimited visits and can be purchased or renewed from the admissions office in Tayto Park on the day of your visit. For more information tickets and attractions at Tayto Park, visit www.taytopark.ie.
