With the end of the school holidays in sight, why not celebrate with a two-day pass for Funtasia Waterpark (Drogheda) and Funtasia Bettystown. Called the 'Mega Multi Fun Pass', two adults with two children will benefit from bowling, play passes, ride tokens, meals on two days, unlimited time in the waterpark and much more. Costing €94.50 it equates to a saving of approximately €75 over the two days. See www.funtasia.ie.
Tesco has a number of different laptops under a back-to-school offer priced at €299, the most popular of which is sure to be the Acer Aspire E15, which includes a year's McAfee LiveSafe Protection. To make the most of the price, I recommend you scan your Tesco ClubCard, as you'll get additional points on your card as a result. The numbers might not mean much now, but the vouchers may come in handy in a few months' time.
Get 10% off your schoolbooks purchased online, and free delivery on all orders, from Easons using the voucher code 'Simple' when checking out. See www.easons.com. Alternatively get either 12.5% off your order or free book covers online from schoolbooks.ie, no codes required. Incidentally their sister site, toysonline.ie, has great prices for balance bikes ranging in price from €29.99 to €65.99 depending on make and model.
Aldi has a range of wood and leather furniture in store from Sunday 16th August next. It's a fair guess that the leather chair with footstool (€179.99, left) is going to be snapped up very quickly. Leather-faced with a steel frame and a wooden base, it's (apparently) easy to assemble and comes with a free three-year warranty. While you're there, pick up the nest of tables (€49.99, right), made from Indian hardwood Sheesham, they feature a lacquer finish. You may as well have somewhere stylish to rest your cup of coffee while relaxing in your new chair. Available in Aldi Stores nationwide.
Strike it lucky at the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise with two nights' bed and breakfast, dinner on one evening for two adults and up to two children sharing. The offer includes either an hour bowling or an hour in the play area at the 'roll and bowl', plus a complementary fun pack for each child and a surprise snack in your room on arrival. Prices start at €218 for the entire package on a midweek stay, making it excellent value. See: www.thekilleshin.com
Electric Picnic might be a while away yet, so there's still plenty of time to pick up camping equipment at a discount price. Camping equipment is half price in Homestore And More for the month of August. A 3-4 person 'Pitch And Go' tent is reduced to €27.99, couple that with some extra tent pegs (75c for 10), a six-foot camping mat (€2.50), a mummy sleeping bag (€8), and an eight-LED headlamp (€2.50) and it's all very affordable. There's plenty more on offer online and instore. See: www.homestoreandmore.ie.
Irish Rail have a regular family ticket for the Short Hop Zone in Dublin. It's not a special offer but a great price nonetheless. For €19.95 a family can have unlimited travel in one day including DART and suburban rail. The zone extends as far north as Balbriggan; Greystones in the south, then Maynooth or Celbridge to the west. Make your rail ticket stretch a little bit further and present it at selected attractions to get an additional entrance discount. See tripstoremember.ie for more information.
